Lady Techster Softball Complex
“On April 25th, 2019, the city of Ruston was hit by an F3 tornado. Louisiana Tech Athletic facilities took a hard hit, including the Lady Techsters Softball Field. Due to the damage from the tornado, LA Tech Softball will continue to host camps at alternate locations. Thank you for your patience as we start to rebuild!” 2017 & 2019 Conference Tournament Champions

Mark Montgomery

Head Coach

Mark Montgomery enters his third season as the head coach at Louisiana Tech after two highly successful head coaching stints at both Centenary and Northern Colorado.

Since his arrival in Ruston, he has brought a philosophy of developing the complete individual both on and off the playing fields. His student-athletes have embraced this culture.

Montgomery received recognition for his coaching style when he was voted as the recipient of the 2013-14 Conference USA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s Coaches Choice Award.

The SAAC Coaches Choice Award recognizes a coach that is committed to fostering student-athlete development and welfare through a positive athletic and academic atmosphere. Each C-USA institution selects a nominee and then voting is done by the conference SAAC representatives during its annual in-person meeting.

“This is a tremendous honor for Coach Montgomery,” said Louisiana Tech Athletics Director Tommy McClelland. “This award represents what coaching on the collegiate level is all about – molding student-athletes into champions on and off the field. We are happy that the Conference USA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has recognized Mark’s efforts.”

Emerald Doria

Assistant Coach

Emerald Doria enters her third season as an assistant coach for Mark Montgomery and the Louisiana Tech softball program, her first as Montgomery’s top assistant.

Doria will continue to handle the Lady Techster infielders and assist with hitting. The former Centenary star will now oversee the video editing aspect of the program while also becoming more involved in recruiting. She was promoted following the departure of Jeannie Murphy in January.

Doria spent four years at C.E. Byrd High School including three as the head coach of the varsity program prior to coming to Tech in the summer of 2014. She lettered for four years at Centenary College in Shreveport where she played for Montgomery.

Bianca Duran

Assistant Coach

Former Louisiana Tech pitcher Bianca Duran has re-joined the Lady Techster softball program, this time serving as an assistant coach on Mark Montgomery’s staff.

Duran spent two years in a LA Tech uniform after signing with Montgomery and Co. out of Western Nebraska Community College, where she shattered numerous school offensive and pitching records. She will replace CJ Browder on the Tech coaching staff. Browder accepted a full-time job with the Softball Factory following the conclusion of the 2016 season.

During her two years in Ruston in 2014 and 2015, Duran helped elevate the Lady Techster program. As a senior she earned first team all-Mideast Region honors by the NFCA and was named to the Conference USA All-Tournament team.

Mike Forsythe

Assistant Coach

Mike Forsythe comes to Louisiana Tech as the volunteer pitching coach for the Lady Techsters sporting an impressive resume.

He has coaching experience at four colleges, including stints at Southern Connecticut State, Quinnipiac, Fordham and most recently at Northern Colorado — where he spent five seasons, including two with Montgomery.

Forsythe, who also spent time coaching professionally with the Akron Racers Women’s National Pro Fastpitch League, will be responsible for working closely with the Lady Techster pitching staff, helping them with their growth and development on the collegiate level.
