Camp Description

 

Welcome to the Revolution Softball Camp at the Avon Old Farms School.

Our camps are designed for athletes to learn, develop, and enhance their skills in all phases of softball.

We provide the opportunity to become better softball players by hiring some of the best coaches and players in the sport today. Our staff is eager to help you improve and develop into the best player possible!

General Information

 

Drills and Skills.....

Batting: Will work on batting stance, hit and runs, bunting, pull hitting, opposite field hitting, and hitting for power

Fielding: Will focus on groundballs, pop-fly's, relay throws, fly-balls, pickles, and turning double plays

Pitching: Will work on communication between catcher and pitcher, types of pitches, pitching motions, and release points.

Base-running: Will practice hit and runs, stealing, tagging up, and pickles.

Cost:
Overnight Campers: $525.00 • Includes softball training, team bonding, housing, meals, and activities.
Extended Day Campers: $425.00 • Includes softball training, team bonding, lunch, dinner, and activities.
Day Campers: $345.00 • Includes softball training and lunch.

Staff:
Jen Russell
Jen Russell begins her second season as the Pioneers' pitching coach in 2014. A graduate of Sacred Heart, she led the softball team to two Northeast Conference titles in 2009 and 2011. In 2009, she helped the team make history earning the school's first win in any sport at a division I NCAA Tournament with a 3-1 victory over Cornell. A four-time All-NEC selection, Russell was named the NEC Tournament MVP both championship seasons.
Before coming to Sacred Heart in 2007, Russell played four years of softball at St. Joseph's High School in Trumbull, Conn. where she served as team captain her senior year. She led St. Joseph's to the FCIAC and CIAC Championship her senior season. In 2007, she was named Connecticut Player of the Year, Connecticut Post All-Area and Co-MVP. She was selected as CIAC and FCIAC playoff MVP as a senior. Russell earned first team All-FCIAC honors junior and senior years, and was named All-FCIAC Second-Team as a sophomore.
She is currently pursuing her Masters in Education at Sacred Heart, and will graduate in December, while teaching tenth grade geometry at Bassick High School in Bridgeport, Conn.

Other staff members will include assistant coaches, talented local high school coaches, and college players.

Any additional information that we need to convey as the camp draws closer will be passed on to you via the e-mail address that you supplied when you signed up for camp. Please make it a habit to check your e-mail daily, this will eliminate any confusion and or miscommunication.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
A camp credit is issued to any camper who must cancel prior to camp. The credit will be in the amount paid by the camper. Any cancellation within 5 days of the start of camp will result in a camp credit minus $100 cancellation fee. The credit is transferrable to another family member and is good through the following camp season. Cash refunds are not offered.

Camp Check-in

 

Check in is from 12:00pm-1:00pm on the first day and Check out on the last day is 12:00pm *Times may vary depending on the location.

Located just outside of Hartford, CT, Avon Old Farms School is a beautiful location with multiple fields for our camps use.

Meals

 

Overnight Campers: All meals
Extended Day Campers: Lunch and dinner
Day Campers: Lunch

Accommodations

 

Overnight campers at the Revolution Softball Camp will sleep on campus in dormitories. The staff lives in the dorms and chaperones all the off field/evening activities to provide supervision.
