Stone, a 1994 Western graduate and 2001 inductee into the WCSU Athletics Hall of Fame, had been the Head Softball Coach at the United States Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point) 2000 until August of 2006.

Stone, Kings Point's winningest coach in the team's 12-year history, compiled a record of 110-121-1 in six seasons at the helm. She guided the team to back-to-back Skyline Conference Tournament titles and its only two NCAA Championship berths in 2003 and 2004. Her teams won 23-plus games in '03 and '04, including a program-record 28 wins in 2004.

In 2005, USMMA bestowed its first Power of Inspiration Coaching Award on the New Hampshire native. Stone was also the Head Volleyball Coach at Kings Point for two seasons. During her brief tenure, the Mariners twice finished runners-up to the Skyline Conference Championship and totaled a combined record of 33-25.

Prior to arriving at USMMA, Stone was the assistant softball coach at BYU-Hawaii. She also served as an assistant coach for three seasons at Christopher Newport, and for one season at Western following graduation.

Last season, Western went 28-14 overall and were 9-5 in the Little East Conference. After finishing in third place in the LEC Tournament, Western received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament (its 10th appearance overall), falling in the first round at Ithaca College. The 2011 season was the 18th straight season of 20 or more wins for the program.

In her first five seasons with the Colonials, Stone compiled an overall record of 134-79, and 45-25 in Little East Conference play. During the 2008 season, Stone's Western team finished with 31 wins on the season. Breanne Gleason

In her fifth year at the helm, head coach, Breanne Gleason came to Central following a pair of seasons on the coaching staff at the University of New Haven.  She spent the 2014-17 seasons as the acting head coach for the Blue Devils and she spent one season as an assistant coach in 2013.

In 2015, Gleason guided her team to its second Northeast Conference Championship in program history. The Blue Devils concluded their 2015 post season run in the first round of the NCAA Tournament after falling to Georgia and North Carolina with a final record of 31-14.

Gleason, a 2010 graduate of New Haven, spent two years serving as an assistant coach at her alma mater.  During that time, she worked extensively with New Haven's pitching staff, while also assisting with recruiting and the day-to-day administrative duties of the program.

Gleason also served as the softball team's academic coordinator at New Haven.  In that role she was responsible for overseeing the academic success of new student-athletes, weekly team monitoring and serving as a liaison with academic support staff.

During her playing career, Gleason was a standout in the circle and at the plate.  She led the Chargers to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including the program's best postseason run in 2010.

Individually, Gleason finished her career as the Charger's all-time leader in at-bats, doubles, pitching appearances, strikeouts, wins and innings pitched, and also finished within the top-10 in six other statistical categories.  She was a two-time Third Team All-America selection, a four-time Daktronics All-Region selection and in 2010 won both the Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year Awards from the Northeast-10 Conference, becoming only the second player to earn both honors in the same season.

Also, she was the 20th Division II pitcher to record 1,000 career strikeouts and the 22nd to reach 100 victories.  She also threw a perfect game during her career.

Bippy and Pam anchored the middle infield for Sacred Heart in 1984 and 1985 and lead their team to an 89-12 record, which was highlighted by back to back appearances in the D-2 final four. In 1997, Luckie was recognized for her collegiate softball exploits when she was inducted into the Connecticut Scholastic and Collegiate Softball Hall of Fame.

Jen Russell

Jen Russell begins her second season as the Pioneers pitching coach in 2014. A graduate of Sacred Heart, she led the softball team to two Northeast Conference titles in 2009 and 2011. In 2009, she helped the team make history earning the schools first win in any sport at a division I NCAA Tournament with a 3-1 victory over Cornell. A four-time All-NEC selection, Russell was named the NEC Tournament MVP both championship seasons.

Before coming to Sacred Heart in 2007, Russell played four years of softball at St. Joseph's High School in Trumbull, Conn. where she served as team captain her senior year. She led St. Josephs to the FCIAC and CIAC Championship her senior season. In 2007, she was named Connecticut Player of the Year, Connecticut Post All-Area and Co-MVP. London captured her second Northeast Conference title in 2011 as the SHU won 29 games en route to a second crown in three seasons.  London had two Pioneers earn major Northeast Conference awards in 2011 as Taylor Froelich was tabbed the NEC Player of the Year and Nicole Sidor was selected the league's Most Improved Player.

In 2014, she was recognized for her career achievements when she was inducted into the Connecticut Scholastic and Collegiate Softball Hall of Fame.

As teammates for two seasons, 1984 and 1985, London and Luckie anchored the middle of the Pioneers infield, leading those teams to a sparkling 89-12 record, which was highlighted by back-to-back trips to the Division II Final Four.

Kevin Proffitt

Kevin Proffitt is in his 15th year as head coach of the Randolph-Macon Softball Program and recently revived his 300th career win. A 1986 Randolph-Macon graduate with a B.A. degree in Psychology, Proffitt was a letter-winner on the Yellow Jacket baseball team as a catcher.

Under the leadership of Proffitt, along with assistant coaches Amanda Sopko '15, Chip Bailey and Dana Wood, Randolph-Macons softball program continues to grow and improve on a regional and national level, having defeated multiple teams ranked in the Top 25 in the nation in Division III.

R-MC claimed the program's first ODAC Title in 2015 and made its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament, finishing as the runner-up of the Newport News Regional. The Yellow Jackets were ranked No. 8 in the Atlantic Region for the second consecutive season. The 2015 squad included the ODAC Rookie of the Year, three All-State honorees, two All-Region mentions and three All-ODAC performers.

In 2014, the Yellow Jackets success continued as they received votes in the NFCA Top 25 poll and again finished the year ranked No. 8 in the Atlantic Region.  They advanced to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament Championship Game for the first time in program history.

In 2013, R-MC set program records for most wins in a regular season as well as in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with a 34-9 overall record and a 15-5 finish in the conference. This included a home record of 23-0. The softball program also received its first-ever national ranking when it entered the National Fastpitch Coachs Alliance Top 25 poll at No. 22 in the country. R-MC also finished the 2013 campaign ranked No. 8 in the Atlantic Region.

Proffitt was named the recipient of the Randolph-Macon College Athletic Departments Hugh Stephens Coach of the Year Award in the spring of 2012 and 2013. Fellow R-MC coaches voted on the award.

In 2008 and 2012, R-MC would once again set single-season records for victories in a season with 24 wins in 2008 and 29 in 2012.

Proffitt was recognized as the 2007 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Coach of the Year after the Yellow Jackets reached the ODAC Tournament and posted 21 wins, then a school record.

Proffitt is proud of the opportunity he has had to coach all of the young women that have come through the softball program. R-MC has produced many All-Conference, All-State and All-Regional performers and also one All-America nominee over the past 13 years.

In that time, she had the privilege of working alongside, and learning from, some of the most enthusiastic, dynamic, and brilliant leaders of womens college fastpitch softball Liz Miller (Notre Dame), Eugene Lenti (DePaul), Patrick Murphy (Alabama), Sue Enquist (UCLA), Brian Kolze (Pacific), and Kathy Van Wyk (San Diego State).

During the 2008 softball season, Sara assisted San Diego State University, in putting together the most successful campaign in Aztec history thus far. Sara was honored as a member of the Mountain West Conference Softball Coaching Staff of the Year, after the Aztecs won the conference championship and earned an automatic bid into the NCAA Regional softball tournament.

Sara has four years of experience as a Division I head softball coach, including a two-year stint at Indiana University from 2003-04, where in 2004 the team celebrated its first winning campaign since 1996. Sara has coached numerous USA Today/NFCA All-Americans through her career, including the First Team Thirdbaseman when she was head softball coach at the University of Northern Iowa.

Sara began her softball coaching career as an assistant coach at DePaul University from 1996-2000. During that time, she helped lead the Blue Demons to five NCAA Regional appearances and two Women's College World Series (WCWS) bids, the first two in Blue Demon history. She was part of the coaching staff that was named NFCA National Softball Coaching Staff of the Year in 1999 and NFCA Midwest Softball Coaching Staff of the Year in 1998 and 2000.

As a player, Sara was a softball standout at the University of Notre Dame as a catcher, third baseman and outfielder. She was the 1995 Midwestern Collegiate Conference Softball Player of the Year and a three-time all-Mideast region selection. She was the Irish MVP as a junior and senior when the softball team earned trips to the NCAA Regional softball tournament. Sara graduated from Notre Dame as the school's all-time leader in 10 offensive categories and the holder of eight single-season school records.

Through Power Line Consulting, Sara's influence on the game of softball extends further; beyond the field, the grandstands, and college arena. It is Sara's vision to assist in the education, mentoring, and support of high school athletes and their families; to help them achieve greatness on and off the field of play.

Kristen Hunt

Kristen Hunt was named the Rutgers University-Newark softball coach on July 27, 2015.

In Hunt's first season at Rutgers-Newark, she led the Scarlet-Raiders to the programs first winning season in school history!

Hunt comes to Newark after time at Division I Central Connecticut State University, Division II University of Bridgeport and Division III Wheaton College.

Hunt graduated from Wheaton (Mass.) in May of 2011 and was an NFCA All-Region pick that same season. A two-year team captain and 2011 all-conference performer, Hunt immediately headed to Bridgeport in her home state as an assistant coach (2011-2014). As a member of the Knights staff, she had her hands in all aspects of the program, developing a strength and conditioning program, planning and running individual practices and much more.

After three seasons at UB, Hunt moved on to CCSU in January of 2014 and helped guide the Blue Devils to the 2015 Northeast Conference title and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. While at Central, Hunt played a major role in all recruiting, travel, budgeting, team academic performance, community service, university and NCAA compliance, etc. During that time, the Blue Devils compiled an overall record of 60-30 and a winning percentage of .667, making deep postseason runs in both campaigns.

The Scarlet Raiders had a solid 2014 season that featured 18 wins, including closing the season by winning nine of their final 12 outings.

Jamie Purcell

Purcell knows the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) well after a decorated four-year career at TCNJ. Purcell competed in 151 games, starting 150, as a catcher and utility player while earning All-NJAC honors each of her four seasons. She was an honorable mention in 2013, first-team as a sophomore, second-team as a junior, and she capped her career with another first-team All-NJAC award. Purcell was a career .275 hitter who racked up 122 hits and 53 RBI while fielding her position at .984% clip.

The Lions made the NCAA Tournament following Purcell's rookie year, and while serving as a team captain in 2016, her squad made it back to the NCAA Tournament as she earned NCAA Regional Tournament Team honors.

As a coach, Purcell has led the NJ Pride Softball 18u Gold team in the summer of 2016 and the NJ Pride Softball 18u Elite team in 2015. She has also been an instructor at the Lady Lions Sports Camp in Caldwell, N.J. since 2009 where she coaches and mentors young student-athletes on the skills, techniques, and competitive strategies necessary for individual and team achievement. In addition, Purcell has worked as a softball coach at the 4 Real Baseball and Softball Camps, TCNJ Softball Winter Clinic, Nike Softball Camp, and Long Valley Girls' Softball Association Summer Softball Camp.
