Description

This camp is for athletes looking to further develop their skills in all areas. During this camp we will have multiple sessions running at the same time and each athlete will get the opportunity to pick the sessions that they attend! For the base price of $225, each athlete will get to attend Game Play on Wednesday June 20th and attend TWO training sessions. Each additional session is $50 except for pitcher / catcher ($100 / 3 Hr. Session), Hitting on field ($65), and Slapping on field ($65) Monday. We will have sessions covering all areas of the game Power Offense, Slapping, Infield Corner Defense, Middle Infield Defense, Outfield, Base running, Pitching and Catching, Throwing development with Austin Wassermann, Strength Training, and Mental Training.

DEFENSIVE SESSIONS (INFIELD/OUTFIELD)

Infield (Corners)  ... 9:00am 10:30am

The defensive sessions are for position players looking to sharpen their fundamentals in their respective positions and dive into the details of what it takes to be a good defender. (Pitchers and Catchers are to attend the Pitcher/Catcher Clinic not position play) 

 

 

HITTING SESSIONS

Hitting Session I  ... 9:00am 10:30am

Hitting Session II ... 11:00am 12:30pm

Hitting Session III ... 3:00pm 4:30pm

 

 Campers will get the opportunity to work with our hitting coach, Ruben Felix and Volunteer Assistant Katie Rietkovich as they dive into what it takes to be successful offensively. This session is for hitters that are looking to increase their movement patterns and mechanics.  Each camper will learn progression drills that are used with the Ole Miss Offense. Sessions are limited to a smaller amount of athletes.

 

 

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING

Strength and Conditioning Session I ... 9:00am 10:30am

Limit ... 30 Athletes per session

 

This session will be conducted by the Ole Miss Softball Strength Coach, Brett Lenaburg. Players will get the opportunity to work with Brett in the Ole Miss Softball weight room and break into the fundamentals of weight lifting as a collegiate athlete. Brett will take you through a lifting circuit targeting the major muscle groups that you need to be a successful athlete.

 

 

HIGH LEVEL THROWING

HLT Session I ... 1:00pm 2:30pm

HLT Session II ... 3:00pm 4:30pm

Limit ... 12 Athletes per session

 

Campers will get the opportunity to work with High Level Throwing founder, Austin Wassermann. Austin is highly respected by coaches, parents and players for his approach and knowledge of the human body. Prior to AB, he has worked in New York City alongside some of the top Physical Therapists and Motor Learning Specialists in the country. Austin works with current Minor League & Major League Players as well as Youth, HS & Collegiate Athletes!

MENTAL TRAINING

Mental Training Session I ... 5:30pm 6:30pm (Monday Only)

Mental Training Session II ... 5:30pm 6:30pm (Tuesday Only)

 

Dr. Matt Seitz, one of our Ole Miss Athletics Sports Psychologist, will conduct this session. Dr. Seitz will take athletes through a training session discussing the mental strengths players need to have to be successful. He will take questions as well as give players ideas as far as how to deal with mental struggles on and off the playing field.

 

 

BASE RUNNING

Base Running Session I ... 11:00am 12:30pm

Base Running Session II ... 3:00pm 4:30pm

 

Campers will be taken through several speed routines that our Ole Miss Softball athletes work on regularly to increase their speed. Campers will also be taught several base running skills that as a staff we teach our players every day. Base running is a very important part of the game that is often overlooked and should be taught properly at all levels.

 

 

PITCHER / CATCHER CAMP

Time ... 5:00pm 8:00pm (Monday Only)

 

Pitchers will get the opportunity to work with the Ole Miss pitching coach Ashley Chastain as she discusses the specifics of being an effective and efficient pitcher. She will break down the spin of each pitch as well as how to use them effectively in the game. Catchers will get the opportunity to work with members of our coaching staff on the art of receiving, blocking and controlling the running game.

Miscellaneous Information

What if I have to cancel a camp? In order to be compliant with NCAA rules, please understand that all camps and clinics are non-refundable. If for some reason a camper cannot attend, please inform Katie Rietkovich (Katier@olemiss.edu) one week prior to the camp or clinic date and we will gladly forward your camp balance to be used towards another Ole Miss Softball Camp or Clinic. If the camp director is not notified one week prior to the camp or clinic date, no forward will occur. If an individual cannot attend due to a medical reason, please provide a doctor's note to (Katier@olemiss.edu) and the balance will be forwarded, if the cancellation is made prior to camp. Finally, no refunds or balance forwards will be issued upon expulsion or voluntary withdrawal from camp.

 

Please check your email regularly as this is our primary way we communicate. Any additional information that we need to convey as the camp draws closer will be passed on to you via the e-mail address that you supplied when you signed up for camp. Please make it a habit to check your e-mail daily, this will eliminate any confusion and or miscommunication.
