Softball tops NFCA Division I GPA rankings

Kristin Ryman

Head Coach


Head softball coach Kristin Ryman, beginning her 14th season, has developed the Lipscomb Lady Bisons into one of the top programs in the NCAA.


An up and down 2017 season ended in the ASUN Tournament semifinals for the Lady Bisons as they finished 36-20 and 8-10 in the ASUN. Junior 1B Caitlin Plocheck was named to the All-ASUN First team and sophomore pitcher Mandy Jordan was a Second Team selection. Infielders Hannah DeVault and Peyton Ward were honored with All-Freshman team selections.


In 2016 the Lady Bisons posted a 26-29 record, 8-10 in the ASUN. Brittany Elmore and Abby Fenichel were selected to the All-ASUN First Team, Kelly Young, Destinee Brewer and Sarah Higgins were Second Team selections. Brewer and Higgins also were awarded All-Freshman Team honors.






Megan Rhodes Smith

Associate Head Coach


Associate head coach Megan Rhodes Smith returns for her sixth season as pitching coach for the Lipscomb Lady Bisons.


During her tenure the Lady Bisons played in the NCAA Regional at the University of Tennessee in 2014, advancing to the final round. The team received the first at large bid in Lipscomb Sports and ASUN Softball history, setting the program record for RPI at 29.


Four of her pitchers have earned ASUN Conference honors with Mandy Jordan’s All-ASUN Second Team selection in 2017. Kelly Young was named First Team in 2015 and Second Team in 2016. Tanner Sanders was a Second Team selection in 2015. Sanders and Young were picked to the ASUN All-Tournament Team in 2015. Ashley Anderson was a Second Team pick in 2014.






J.J. Dillingham

Assistant Coach


J.J. Dillingham is entering his sixth season as an assistant coach for the Lipscomb Lady Bisons. This is the third time in his career Dillingham has been an assistant coach for the Lady Bisons.


“Everyone needs servant leaders in their program, and J.J. is someone who will be that for us,” Lipscomb coach Kristin Ryman said. “He has a blue-collar approach and will be dedicated to making our program better in any way possible.  He will be involved in every aspect of our program.”


“I am a firm believer in having an attention to detail in our program. We believe in doing things the right way, and we have tried to create a culture within our program of hard work, accountability, and family.
