LTU Softball Camps

The Lawrence Tech camps are designed for players to develop their skills in all areas of the game of softball. The Blue Devil coaches and college players will be on hand to demonstrate and instruct not only the basics but also more advanced areas of the game.

 

Our camps range in ages and we should have a program to fit your needs. If you do not see a date that works for you at this time check back to the site as we add new sessions often.

 

Our softball camps in Michigan are a great opportunity to take your game to the next level. Camp Staff will include current Lawrence Tech Softball coaching staff and college softball players

Session 1: Defense & Hitting Camp

Description

Coach Baird and her staff will demonstrate the LTU way of hitting. Create hitting drills to help improve your skills.  Defensively, we will go over infield and outfield skills. Groups will be broken down by age.

 

Limited to 35 players per workshop.

Description

We will do an overview of the fundamental mechanics that are essential to being a mentally tough pitcher.  Pitchers will focus on drills to enhance pitcher speed and endurance as well as the drills used by the staff to improve and perfect location of all pitches. PITCHERS MUST BRING A CATCHER for the first 40 minutes of this session and these catchers will not be receiving any skill instruction.

 

Limited to 15 players per workshop.

Description

Coach Baird and her staff will be conducting a Coaches Clinic on Jan. 19, 2019 from 9:30 a.m-2 p.m. at the Don Ridler Field House on the campus of Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, MI. This is an exciting opportunity to learn from a staff that has coached at Division I, III, NAIA and high school level and the cost of the clinic is $60 for all sessions.

 

We are excited to offer you the opportunity to attend LTU Softball Coaches Clinic! Our Clinic is for the coach who wants to strengthen their knowledge of the game and wants to take their game to the next level. Our clinic is held in a relaxed, fun environment that allows the participants to learn from our LTU staff and players. We will provide instruction on how to help your athletes improve their softball skills, knowledge and ability to execute. There will be something for everyone-no matter their coaching knowledge and experience.

 

Session 1: Pitching: Mental and physical drills to help your pitchers       9:30-10:20 a.m.

Join Coach Pond and her pitching staff for an overview of the fundamental mechanics that are essential to being a dominant pitcher. Coach Pond will focus on drills to enhance pitcher speed and endurance as well as the drills used by the staff to improve and perfect location of all pitches.

 

Session 2: Catching: Receiving, blocking and calling the game                 10:30-11:00 a.m.

Join Coach Cupp and catchers as they introduce the techniques and drills used by the LTU catching staff. Focus will be placed on the basic mechanics needed to support your pitching staff, such as blocking, framing, and throwing footwork.

 

Session 3: Hitting the LTU Way and drills, drills and more drills                 11:10-12:00 p.m.

Join Coach Baird as she will introduce our offensive drills and offensive philosophies. Emphasis will be placed on creating more power and consistency in your swing from load to extension.

 

Session 4: Defense: Drills to master fundamentals                                      12:10-1:00 p.m.

Join the coaching staff as they give you drills to help master outfield and infield fundamentals for the game.

 

Session 5: Strength and Conditioning: Give your team the EDGE              1:05 -1:35 p.m.                                                    

Join Coach Cupp as she introduces strength and conditioning drills related to softball that will help improve your softball players. These are very sport specific and will give you the edge over other teams.

 

Session 6: Question and Answers                                                                  1:35-2 p.m.

Join Coach Baird, her staff and the LTU softball team as we help you develop your hitting and base running skills. Emphasis will be placed on being a consistent powerful hitter. We have a station where you will have the opportunity to hit live batting practice.

 

Session 2: Defense: Breakdown with total team situational coverage | 10:20am-11:40am

$40.00 | Grades 8-12 | Limit to 40 campers

Join the LTU Coaching Staff and softball team as they take you through a high intensity defensive work out. Campers will be put in advanced drills for infield and outfield just like how the LTU softball team practices.

 

Session 3: Pitching: Mechanics and the mental side of pitching | 11:45am-1:00pm

$30.00 | Grades 8-12 | Limit to 20 campers

Join Coach Dana and her pitching staff for an overview of the fundamental mechanics that are essential to being a mentally tough pitcher.
