Melissa Finley took the reins of Colgate Softball in August 2012.
In her first three years at the helm of the Maroon and White, Finley already has coached four student-athletes to All-Patriot League status, including catcher Mariel Schlaefer to three consecutive first team nods.
She has continued to build the Raider program, leading Colgate from a sixth-place finish in 2014 to third last season. Besides helping the Raiders to postseason appearances in 2013 and 2015, Finley coached the Raiders to their first Patriot League tournament victory in four years during the 2015 season. Finley’s three-year coaching record stands at 46-83, with a 23-33 mark in Patriot League play.
Colgate softball head coach Melissa Finley has announced the addition of Rebecca Mueller as an assistant coach for the 2017 season.
Mueller comes to Colgate after a four-year playing career at the College of Charleston where she was a two-time All-CAA pick. The Fair Oaks, Calif. native hit .369 as a senior in 2016 to earn third team NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region honors as well as her team’s Offensive Player of the Year award. The centerfielder recorded 66 hits as a senior, the tenth most hits in a single season in College of Charleston history.
Mueller started all four years of her career in both left and center field as she helped lead the College of Charleston to three 35-plus win seasons.
