Leopards place seven on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

The Lafayette softball team placed seven of its student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, announced Monday afternoon. The group consisted of four seniors and three sophomores and the team boasted an overall grade-point average (GPA) of 3.07.

Senior Emma Kline led the group with her 3.82 GPA. The International Affairs and German double major received the Foreign Languages and Literature Department's Outstanding Senior Award in May.

Classmates Sara Bussiere (Government and Law), Robyn Matchett (Government and Law) and Amanda Parker (Economics and Business and Art) joined Kline on the list. In May, Bussiere completed her thesis entitled "Great Britain as a Changing Nation State and Its Precarious Relationship with the European Nation." Matchett, meanwhile, spent the January interim session with Greenbaum and Orecchio, Inc., a wealth management firm, in New Jersey

Sophomores Kristin Garganio (Chemistry), Ali Henry (English and Art) and Christine Hilcken (Psychology and Government and Law) were also recognized. Hilcken completed a law externship in Easton during January.

The Leopards advanced to the Patriot League Championship series for the second straight season and senior Christina Giambrone was named the 2009 Patriot League Softball Player of the Year.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 GPA in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's 16 winter or spring championship sports. The criteria for awarding varsity letters differs at each institution.

How old do you have to be to attend a College Softball Camp or Clinic?

Each College Softball Camp usually has camps for youth and then High School camps. Check the school of choice to see the different options available.

What should I bring to a typical softball camp?

For normal softball camps, you come like you would be going to practice or game. Softball glove, bat, hat, uniform and helmet, if you have one.

Catchers are recommended to bring softball gear, if you have it.

When should I start to go to College Softball Camps?

The earlier the better! The younger you can get started to be fundamentally sound the better. It's also great to have the College Softball Coaches know who you are when you are 10 and then they see you again at 16 and say, I remember that girl. Man, she can really play.
