Sharon J. Drysdale Field Named Nation's Best Playing Surface

Northwestern's Sharon J. Drysdale Field has been selected as the College winner of the 2008 Stabilizer Solutions/NFCA Field Maintenance Award, an honor that recognizes outstanding grounds maintenance and quality playing surfaces.
The Wildcats' grounds crew of Randy Stoneberg, Rich Thorn, Joe Berube and Jeff Monette earned the award through their hard work and dedication to maintaining a premier playing surface at Drysdale Field. Northwestern agronomist Tim VanLoo submitted the facility for consideration.
In addition to Northwestern's regular season home games, Sharon J. Drysdale Field has played host to the Big Ten Tournament and the Regional and Super Regional rounds of the NCAA Tournament. In 2006, ESPN.com proclaimed "the field and softball staff both earned rave reviews for staging the Big Ten Tournament..." following the conference event.
