2012 Wilmington Softball Commuter Camp

The camp will provide
instruction in all facets of the
game from beginner to advanced
skills. There will be sessions on
hitting, bunting, base running, pitching, catching,
infield and outfield play, as well as game
competition. Throughout the week campers
will enhance their skills in a fun and energetic
environment.

Five Seahawks Honored By NFCA
A total of five UNCW softball players were recognized for their work in the classroom as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its girls got game/NFCA Scholar-Athletes for the 2009-10 academic year.
Graduated senior Morgan Walters and current student-athletes Katie Houmard, Allison Lanouette, Samme Lisowsky and Brittany Pierce were all honored for having achieved a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the 2009-10 academic year. The quintet helped the Seahawks enjoy a solid year in the classroom as the team combined for a 3.10 GPA last season.
"We are very proud to have our student-athletes honored by the NFCA as girls got game/NFCA Scholar-Athletes," said UNCW Head Coach Kelly Van Houten. "Each of these ladies has worked very hard in the classroom to be successful and it is great to see their hard work rewarded. We look forward to seeing more of our student-athletes honored in the coming years."
The honors are part of the NCFA's girls got game Academic Awards program that honors collegiate and high school teams and individuals for their submitted GPAs for the previous academic year.
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) is the professional growth organization for fastpitch softball coaches from all competitive levels of play. Besides services offered to the membership, the NFCA works with USA Today in producing polls for NCAA Division I and high school softball. In addition, NCAA Division II and Division III polls are produced. The NFCA also conducts collegiate tournament competitions, as well as recruiting camps throughout the nation. A. For normal softball camps, you come like you would be going to practice or game. Softball glove, bat, hat, uniform and helmet, if you have one.

Q. When should I start to go to College Softball Camps?
A. The earlier the better! The younger you can get started to be fundamentally sound the better. It's also great to have the College Softball Coaches know who you are when you are 10 and then they see you again at 16 and say, I remember that girl. Man, she can really play.
